- Check in — follow signs to a check-in booth, either self-service (touch screen, using your card or booking reference) or a manned kiosk.
- Get your "hanger" — a small piece of paper with a letter on it, hung from your rear-view mirror, showing which crossing you're booked on.
- Border checks — from 2026, UK passport holders are subject to the EU's Entry/Exit System, which records biometric data (photo and fingerprints) the first time you cross after it's introduced; this adds a small amount of time versus a simple passport stamp.
- Wait for boarding — boarding starts around 25 minutes before departure; you'll be called via announcements, departure boards, or the app.
- Drive onto the train — follow signs for your vehicle size (small/medium or large) to the correct carriage type, guided by staff.
- The crossing — about 35 minutes, staying with your vehicle throughout.
